First day: We start our journey to Macas at 8:30 am from Cuenca. On the way there you will visit a Cacao Farm. You will learn about growing cacao plants, harvest the fruit and roast cacao beans yourself to grind them up into selfe-made chocolate. Before going on, you will have lunch and then go on to Macas. After checking into the hotel you can explore Macas for a while before having dinner.
Second day: After a hearty breakfast, we will drive to a small Shuar Community in the middle of the rainforest. You will walk for about 30 minutes along a trail to get to their traditional huts, which are located at a river. The activities in this magical spot include hiking to a giant Ceiba tree explications about the plants of the rainforest, a canoe ride along the river as well as traditional Shuar music and dances. For lunch you will have typical meal prepared by the Shuars and in the late afternoon we will return to Macas for dinner.
Third and last day: The morning starts after breakfast with a visit to an Animal Rehabilitation Center. There, you will be able to see animals typical to the Amazon rainforest, like jaguars and other wild cats, as well as parrots, monkeys, sloths and tapirs, to name just a few. After lunch we will return to our hotel, get our luggage and depart back to Cuenca, where we arrive in the late afternoon.

What to bring?
Limón and Macas are situated in the Amazon Rainforest, so the weather is usually nice and warm, but you have to be prepared for light to heavy rains. Bring mainly light clothes and a few warmer ones for the evenings or when it starts raining. We recommend you pack the following for your trip:
- Outdoor shoes
- Rain poncho
- Insect repellent
- Sun cream (a high factor is recommended)
- Lip balm (a high factor is recommended)
- Flashlight and batteries
- Binoculars (if possible)
- Bathing suit
- Small daypack
- Hat or cap for sun protection
- Light cotton pants
- Long-sleeved light cotton shirts
- Comfortable shoes and/or sandals for Limón
- Extra pairs of socks
- Passport (always take a copy as well)
