There will be a lot of up and down hills and we will also pass by through some tunnels. tours to the rainforest Ecuador tour a la selva tour in den Regenwald Canyoning Tour to the Rainforest in EcuadorFirst day: We start our tour at 8:30 am from Cuenca and drive about 1.5 hours to get to the highest point of the eastern mountains range of the Andes dividing Azuay and Morona Santiago. From there you swing yourselfe on a bike and go for the downhill biking adventure. You bike partly on asphalt and partly on dirt road along a windy road through the Andes. After about 1.5 hours you will have a break from biking and go on a hike trough the cloud forest to an amazing waterfall. Then you will enjoy lunch and when you are ready you go on the last leg to Limón. You reach the small town in the afternoon and before dinner everyone can refresh and relax for a while.

Second and last day: After breakfast, we meet to drive to the waterfalls for canyoning. The beautiful waterfalls are located in the rainforest and are great for a little adventure in the jungle. Besides rappelling down some walls you will also be able to slide and jump into pools to your heart’s content. For lunch we will return to Limón and then prepare our trip back to Cuenca, where we will arrive in the late afternoon.

What to bring?

Limón is situated in the Amazon Rainforest so the weather is usually nice and warm, but you have to be prepared for light to heavy rains. Bring mainly light clothes and a few warmer ones for the evenings or when it starts raining. We recommend you pack the following for your trip:

  • Sun cream (a high factor is recommended)

Biking Ingapirca Biking to IngapircaThis full day biking trip brings you to the town of Ingapirca “Inca wall” in the province of Cañar and the older Incan ruins and archeological site nearby. You start the ride at the train tracks close to Biblián. The bike ride will take you uphill and downhill along a secondary dirt road passing through two old train tunnels. After about 15 km you get to the Panamericana taking the route uphill. Then you return onto the train track where you pass 3 more longer train tunnels on the next 10 km. At this stage you are able to have amazing views over the Andean landscape, indigenous villages and even Cuenca from far away. You will pass by rural farms, and after another small ascent you will enjoy the rest of the way biking downhill to the river of San Pedro. After some 7 km more on the Panamericana you will reach Ingapirca and visit the largest known Inca ruins in Ecuador.

We also visit the Parque Paraíso (Paradise Park), a popular recreational park for Cuenca’s youth and adults. Then we will ride along the Yanuncay River and finish our tour on Avenida Loja marveling the beautiful architecture of the city.
